VIRTUAL CO-CREATION FOR PERFORMING ARTS

Explore presence and connection in virtual environments through our co-creation tools for collaborative performing arts.

The 3D virtual theatre (3DVT) VR streaming platform can bring performers from remote locations on the same virtual stage, allowing them to interact, co-create and rehearse. This involves two different locations and motion capture set-ups, transmitting at the same time.

REUSING THE SOFTWARE DEVELOPED THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT

The 3DVT streaming infrastructure will be made available as an open source application that can be downloaded and run on the user’s computer, through an epic account.

Access research resources for Performance capturing, storing protocols and VR streaming (D2.5) and 3D modelling and editing (D4.3).

Get in touch with CYENS to request VR capturing and streaming services related to the performing arts. Demos of the 3DVT can be organised for venues and artists, in the framework of a potential adoption.

MADE BY
Leader – CYENS Centre of Excellence

Creator: ICK Dans Amsterdam and Argo Theatre have experimented with virtual training and co-creation for dance and theatre, respectively, testing the technical infrastructure as this was technically assembled by CYENS, and imagined in which ways the two virtual and physical stages may co-exist and enrich each other.

Audience: For performing arts venues, producers, artistic groups

Core technologies: VR streaming technologies. Motion capture based on external cameras or sensor suits, streaming of motion capture data from multiple remote users in a shared virtual environment, streaming to multiple devices (multiplayer technology from connected networks), face tracking, avatars creation (3D modelling, rigging and animation), 3D scene modelling and editing.

Application: Bodies interacting in a virtual environment – Synchronised streaming of performers for knowledge transmission, co-creation and interactive choreography

VR streaming and knowledge transmission in the 3D Virtual Theatre. PREMIERE Demo webinar

In this webinar hosted by ‪@CYENSCentreofExcellence‬ we have explored how motion capture and VR streaming technologies can be adopted by venues and companies to enable virtual presence and interaction.

Virtual Theatre Remote Rehearsal Workshop

A workshop was organised on the 3-4th of October at CYENS in Cyprus, with Argo Theatre from Athens. Depy Panga (Argo Theatre) participated in a virtual theatre rehearsal with other actors that were in a different physical locations.
